During the early days of the pandemic, I got this idea for a science-fiction romance book that was weird and funny and really sexy, but it wasn’t anything like I’d ever written. I knew I needed someone to tell me if it worked or not and why, so of course I reached out to The Author Buddy. I had worked with them before, and I was extremely impressed with their professionalism, promptness, and how detailed their beta feedback was. The danger in purchasing premade covers is that I end up creating work for myself when I see a cover I have to have, but I don’t already have a story written for it. This is what happened with the Santa’s Secret cover designed by Perrin. I love the thriller and romantic suspense genres, but I don’t often see holiday themed books in this genre. Perrin’s cover perfectly captured something I didn’t even know I was looking for at an affordable price! Thank you, Perrin.

It’s like Bre wriggled her way into my mind (yikes, sorry!) and saw beyond the words on the page to the story I was trying so hard to tell. She pointed out what worked and what didn’t, but not in a way that made me want to poke her with a Q-Tip and yank her out of my head. I’ve made a cozy little nest for her there with panoramic views and her favorite beverages and snacks so she can visit the inside of my head anytime to give her sweet but honest feedback. She pointed out specific character conversations that needed another look and opportunities for more relationship growth that made perfect sense. Those were the kinds of things that were bothering me about this book in the first place, but I couldn’t figure out why.

…I’d been terrified of doing this, because I can be very particular about what I like…But working with Perrin and Rachel was such a delight! On top of being completely professional and talented, they’re also some of the most lovely people I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. This was a 10/10 experience, and I’m already planning on returning for another cover when my next novel is ready to go!
The beta reading feedback provided by Perrin blew my mind.
She was so incredibly thorough and detail-oriented, and I really felt like she wanted my story to be the best version possible.
