Our Mission is to make sure that every author has a buddy on their publishing journey by providing exceptional services to help them polish, publish, and promote their books.
Whether traditionally published or indie, the first book or the fifth, we believe that every author deserves an encouraging support team that’s passionate about their success, that every story deserves to shine its brightest, and that quality author services should be accessible to every writer with a desire to share their story with the world.
It is important that all of our reader team members share our dedication to this mission. While we always want to give our authors the most comprehensive evaluation of their manuscript, providing encouraging support and feedback is paramount to the experience we provide our authors. As such, please note that all reader feedback is reviewed prior to delivery of the project to the author, to ensure the feedback maintains our communication standards.
So, Is this Like, a Jobby-Job? I’d get paid to read?
Not exactly a “job,” but yes, you do get paid to read lol.
The Author Buddy does not currently have any full-time employment positions available, and we do not offer benefits. All of our team members are 1099 contractors who are offered projects that fit their skillset and interests as projects become available. We do not guarantee availability of projects, though we do our best to promote our services so that our team members can fill their schedules to the level they prefer.
Projects are paid out based on a per-1,000-word rate for each project type. More information about project payouts, payment schedules, and service requirements are provided during onboarding and training. All beta readers start at Professional level beta reading. We do provide training and mentorship, as well as training if our team members are interested in working on higher-level service projects.
We work primarily in romance, so priority is given to readers with experience reading this genre. Readers are matched to projects based on their familiarity with specific genres, subgenres, and tropes. Readers are given advanced notice of possible trigger and content warnings when projects are offered, so that the reader can decide if they want to accept the project while safely avoiding any triggering content.
